The weathers been unbelievably sunny in Berlin recently. I know a real nice song that suits my mood these days. We have the Presidential election in Turkey. The Islamist Party in government has named an Islamist who claims to have changed his mind as the candidate, who will most likely be elected. I am against his presidency, as he has not convinced me about the change in his opinions, and I believe secularism a consistuent of democracy which I believe firmly. So are 300 000 plus people in Turkey and many more who took to the streets for the second time in two weeks. The country is in turmoil, and I have commented about the situation in Turkey on my political blog in Turkish. I plan to summarize them in English soon. Until then I can only forward my international readers to this BBC News article which has links and in depth analysis of Turkey's current problems. I was going to write about the awesome weekend I had in London visiting my sister and attending Bob Dylan's concert. Then I was struck by the news of the Virginia Tech Shootings , where a student of English shot 32 students in two separate shootings on the same day in VT Campus. So it goes. As I expected the conservatives began blaming the video games, National Rifles Association of USA has even linked the killings not to the lax rules on fire-arms in USA, but to their stringency. Their (ill) logic goes like this: had there been a student with a firearm he would be able to stop the maniac on the loose. Great. I'm sure they'd love Dr. Strangelove. Mutual Assured Destruction. Why did this news affected me this much? After all I went to class everyday for two years passing under the infamous University of Texas Tower, from where ex-Marine Corp Charles Whitman shot 17 civilians on a sunny Austin day.So it goes. My favorite TV show Battlestar Galactica starts with the video clip above. I attended a two day meeting at our contractor Siemns, oops Nokia-Siemens after their merger . I had no internet access, and couldn't update my blog. I guess this thing is getting addictive, my mind was full of things to write... So lets start with the (almost) perfect extended-weekend I had last week. Long time ago, I and Diego, defined the "Articles of a Happy Life for an Unattached Young Male" -I can give the link to those interested. Last weekend was a manifestation of the articles. On Friday we started at a cocktail bar, Nachbar , then Refik's dorm room, and ended up in Matrix - one of the most lame clubs in Berlin in my opinion, as usual for a night when we are high on alcohol. But it was one of the best nights in Matrix. Then on Saturday we gathered at my apartment and cooked Manti - Turkish dumplings filled with meat served with garlic yogurt and red pepper fried in butter, my favorite dish by far: - which was followed by a Pro Evolution Soccer Tournament...

It is certain now. I will buy Ps3. The reason is this... The best computer game ever, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be followed by GTA IV, whose first trailer was released yesterday: The trailer can be downloaded here . The trailer is a real time capture from the actual game, i.e. what you see is what you get. What we understand is the game will be based (partially) in -almost real- New York City, Liberty City. Besiktas is on the march. The supporters, the players, the technical staff are all eying at the championship... However some are showing their strength out of the field, not on the field. They know who they are. They are the managers of a club, who somehow managed to avoid a fine after their supporters stabbed each other (for the second time this season), swore continuously... For a similar stabbing incident, which was not organized, whereas this time it was their supporters clubs who were fighting over free tickets and money, Besiktas had a 3 game closure penalty. Last week we had to play in front of emty seats, after 52 seconds of swearing the game before... I had lost faith in justice a long time ago. Acts of injustice makes us only stronger. Spent the Monday home. Devoted the the whole day (well almost the whole, I woke up at 2pm) to spring clean-up. I did not know my apartment could house so much garbage without me knowing. Queen is my first musical obsession, to whom I owe a great deal for the appreciation for multi-layered polyphonic music I grew by listening to them, and helped me appreciating music across the spectrum. Dubbed the first "Stadium Rock"ers, their stage performances had always been great. More than their show on the stage, thanks to flamboyance of Freddie Mercury, they distinguished themselves by getting through to the guy sitting on the last row. People could relate to Queen, composed of the only true male rock diva, the scientist turned guitarist Brian May, the true rocker Roger Taylor and the shy guy on the street John Deacon who plays most of his sets facing Roger Taylor... Their brilliance on stage pea...

It's the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the founding agreement which lead to what is now known as the European Union. Leaving the sour -layed on ice would be more appropriate actually- relationships between Turkey and EU, and the European Mid-Age crisis news on the media I celebrated EU's birthday with a great organization.The presidency of EU, which alternated every 6 months, is at Germany's hand's (next is Slovenia). The celebrations take place in Berlin, where the Federal Government organized the European Club Night , where DJ's and bands from 20 countries played on 30 or so Berlin clubs. All accessible with a single ticket. We visited 4 clubs, but spent most time in Oxymoron (inside Hakescher Höfe) where a Finnish DJ played one of the most entertaining sets I've heard.
