Unbearable human sin

Image
AP Photo/Charlie Riede Today, I am once again ashamed of being human. See more pictures from the Gulf Coast here ( link to the article. ). We are all guilty. But some are more guilty. This includes the hot air talking Obama, growth obsessed Chinese politicians. Do watch this video from Copenhagen Farce of last year. The video ( link to the video ) includes voice recordings from the last minute talks between China, India, Germany, France and USA. The recordings are in English, subtitled in German. BP was rather ambiguous, what they meant by  with their hip and greenwashed slogan "BP: Beyond Petroleum." I know what is beyond petroleum: DEATH. Watch their commercial ( link to the video ).

Kopenhagen Farce and Self-Healing Atmosphere

Image
Here is a jolly news from Copenhagen: Denmark's Lars Lokke Rasmussen called late-night talks with a group of 26 influential world leaders on how to unblock negotiations. "We discussed how we can make progress and we had a very fruitful, constructive dialogue... for almost two hours," he told reporters. 26 leaders, almost two hours. 4.5 minutes for each leader. That's more than enough time to agree on a climate deal. I wonder whose idea it was, and if they really thought that it could work, to get heads of states together and expect them to reach an agreement. There is empirical evidence, that a committee ceases to function if it grows larger than 20 members . I had no trust in this Copenhagen farce. What infuriates me is not the deadlock that the talks are in. It's rather this naive belief -rooted in religion, or delusion of self-importance- that the earth's atmosphere is some magical self-healing system. "Nature" would heal itself. This new-age bu...

Birsey Yapmali!

Su aralar gündemde olan birkac olay cok ama cok sinirimi bozuyor. 1. MNG Holding'in Bodrum'da Pina yarim Adasinda Yaptigi Dolgu MNG Holding'in cevre bilinci kampanyasi acmasi ise iki yüzlulükten baska birsey degildir.

Cleaning out the audio spectrum

The companies and the public bodies spend a lot of effort allocating electromagnetic spectrum (frequency) to new wireless technologies. For those that don't know what electromagnetic spectrum is, the easiest way to understand would be the radio station frequencies. All know that two radio stations cannot transmit or be received at the same frequency. What about the audio spectrum? Sound waves, just like electro-magnetic waves have a frequency. The beautiful process of evolution has provided the millions of species that are competing for audio frequencies like radio stations an almost perfect allocation of sound frequencies. As this great article in Wired Magazine explains, if you scan the audio frequencies in a forest, each species have their own. If not their mating calls would be lost, and they would not be able to produce. Pretty straight forward. Until the humans came up with their machines that produce sound in all the frequencies that you can think of. It looks like there ar...

The stink of human sin...

If you haven't been living in a nuclear fallout bunker for the last 10 years, term global warming should be familiar to you (as a matter of fact, if you haven't heard about it, you better go back to the bunker). Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change , an intergovernmental council composed of about 2500 scientists put the blame of rising temperatures on us, the human kind. The report published today in Paris, uses the harshest wording that a international organization can use, and indicates: "The rise in global temperatures are more than likely to be caused by human activity" Let's contemplate on what human activity means. Please don't go blaming the evil gas companies, the auto industry, the global scapegoat Bush presidency, or the energy thirsty China who does not care about the environment at all. They sure are guilty to some extent. But it is only when we come into terms with the fact that we, ourselves are also guilty, and have to do something about ...
