... bullshit. And Susan Miller is a charlatan. Meet Susan Miller. According to the one of the most serious Turkish news portal -arguably-, she's a world famous astrologist. She visited Turkey, and made the prophecy that something incredible was to happen on 21. December 2010. Considering the rate with which big news stories are fabricated/happen in Turkey, a more interesting prophecy would have been that there would be nothing serious on that day. But lets leave this aside. This vague prophecy, that something big will happen in Turkey on 21. December made the mainstream news. Result? I am reading this very interesting book called Breaking the Spell by the American philosopher Dan Dennet . The book is an attempt to summarize the previous scientific work that try to explain all forms of religion as a natural phenomenon, based on our genetic and cultural evolution, and make further very intriguing philosophical and scientific speculations. Along the evolution of religion, the concept of divination plays an important role. Divination is any form of delegating important decisions in human life to the God, Gods, or Ancestors. Divination takes very different forms, from looking at the broken stern bones of a human sacrifice, to looking at feces' of animals or the kings to see the future, or help us taking important decisions! I found a new CBS show, which revolves around 2 nerds, and their hot neighbor. I know it all sounds very cliché, but the very fact that a network is doing a show oriented at jut nerds, i mean not just sci-fi fans, but those who are interested in string theory too, is amazing. Until I finish downloading the episodes, I am watching youtube clips, and this one just rocked me off my chair from laughing: This conversation is my favorite: Girl: I am a Sagittarius, which probably tells you way more than you need to know... Nerd: Yes, it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion, that the sun's apparent position relative to some arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality!
