Going south

I will be in Stuttgart for the long weekend to get drunk, see friends , watch F1 and eat tasty South German Food ...

We stand shoulder to shoulder on dark days...

I was off to Istanbul for the weekend to meet friends, family, and most importantly to support my team in their important game against Fenerbahce. Before the game we were 2 points behind Fenerbahce with 4 games remaining in the season. All the supporters were delighted to be in the championship chase after an awful season start. I boarded the plane with hope in my heart... I arrived in Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen Airport around 2 AM. It is the second airport in Istanbul, serving mostly cheap flights. I was impressed by the speed with which all the baggage pickup processes took place. Same hold true for my way back to Berlin. This is one of the reasons why I believe in small government, when there are financial incentives -such as those of cheap carriers- everything has to proceed timely... I started my culinary dream vacation on 3:30 AM with various Turkish delicacies prepared by my cousin (Pinar Abla cooks the best Suboreks). The breakfast at my uncle's followed by a visit to the local...

Seckin'le Konustum, Durumlar Iyi

Image
Seckin, a.k.a Diego , pictured above enjoying a sweet nap in U-Bahnhof Gesundbrunnen, was suffering from abdominal hernia. He had an operation this morning. I've called him today after his operation this morning. The operation was successful and he is doing fine. I wish him a quick recovery.

Travel Report: Nürnberg and Amberg

Image
I visited Mehmet Yagli in Amberg, my uni-mate. Okan, my toprak, joined from Stuttgart. I joined them actually, as Okan arrived in Nürnberg earlier. Here is a small illustrated report. Started off in a Mexican Restaurant, which was owned by a Greek, but run by a Slovenian, with Turkish bar keepers. The drinks were pretty cheap. I told a girl that she had an nice accent in German, and asked where she came from. Answer? A village 30 minutes away. Got to know the Frenkish accent better... (For those who don't know which one is who, Yagli is the one with the more girlie drink.) Then for some reason, I have serious reasons to think that it had to do with alcohol, spent rest of the evening asking literally everyone on the street what to do in Nürnberg on a Friday night. I did not give up even if everyone answered with Mach 1. Well we ended up going there, only to find out that it is another crappy multi floor multi genre club for people with exceptional music tastes. Sadly, I could not e...

So Tell The Girls That Diego's In Town

Image
After 6 Months as a Marine, our beloved friend Seckin, a.k.a Diego, is coming back home today. Being the first of the gang to complete the compulsory military service, he's the first to face a life with million possibilities without any excuses. I am sure life will be kind to my friend, as it should be to someone who harbors nothing but good will towards life itself and towards the most of the people in the world. I mean we are talking about a guy, who almost had a depression just because the country was being governed so badly before the 2001 crisis. If the life is not fair, we know what to do: "Cekeriz Emaneti, S...riz Adaleti!"

This is a good day

If anyone of you find it hard to get back to the office life after vacations like I do, I've got the perfect remedy: Another great feel-good-song from Zebda is Olalaradime (not on youtube), thanks to OnurKA for reminding me of Zebda again!
