Meet Mr. Obama, Nobel Peace Prize laureate

Jeffrey Sachs is Professor of Economics and Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. He writes regularly in Scientific American on Global Warming and ecology. I recommend everyone who wants to make sense out of the Copenhagen Farce to read his essay on Project Syndicate.

Why USA is the greatest democracy in the world, and cultural hegemony

Daniella, a friend of mine who is a PHD student on democracy promotion, had told me about the work of 20th century Italian philosopher and political scientist Gramsci . His reading of the modern history, lead him to formulate the concept of Cultural Hegemony, in which a ruling class maintains control over the ruled class, simply by hijacking the ruling class' self understanding. Yes we can...

Obama has the wind behind him. It is clear to see why, after watching this viral video filled with celebrities, and two very clear and striking messages that fit the zeitgeist -as far as I can follow- "we are not divided as our politicians are" and "yes we can [make a change]." I am not sure how this video echoed among older voters, but I am sure it went down with very well with the young.
