My Favorite Pink Floyd Albums

Been listening to my Pink Floyd collection today. I am struck once again by the novelty and braveness of their first two albums. From many great songs Pink Floyd made, their first song from their first album stands out as the greatest opening song of an album, and also of a groups musical life, I have ever heard. The opening tunes of Astronomy Domine are more than opening tunes to a normal song. They are opening to a new era in the history of music. Just like the opening tunes of Like a Rolling Stone. This song also marks the birth of one of the most creative music duos, Waters and Barrett. The duo's rise to musical greatness is marked by their next album, A Saurcerlful Of Secrets, which is my second favorite Pink Floyd album. The spirit lived in the epic Atom Heart Mother and Wish You Were Here, which is dedicated to Barrett, and last time in Final Cut, another favorite of mine. The outsider David Gilmour killed this spirit with the album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason", where the song "Learning to Fly" sticks out as the worst Pink Floyd song ever.

I`d like to honor the memory of Syd Barrett, who passes away not so long ago, with one of his earliest solo-work, "Bob Dylan Blues" which has references to another great Dylan Song "I Shall Be Free No. 10":

Brain in love...

Functional MRI is one of the coolest scientific devices ever developed. With it the scientists are able to monitor which parts of the brain are activated, when individuals are involved in different activities. According to their results, love activates the reward/punishment mechanisms, along with risk taking and strategic game playing parts of the brain. Joy of rediscovering a Bob Dylan discovery

I guess I won't be wrong if I say that Bob Dylan's artistic output is perhaps one of the largest in the contemporary music history. Thus one shouldn't be surprised to find interesting Dylan selections such as "Favorite Dylan Songs Starting with C" in the Internet. His website ( link to the website ), which has an incredible list of his songs, might give you an idea of about the sheer volume of his output. So from time to time I discover new favorites out of this collection. The song Series of Dreams is a voyage through well you know what, in which Dylan has no intention of telling anything specific, but just wants to paint the walls of a long and winding cave with the images.
